Peter Gibbons’ “Photographing Art of the Hunt” can be viewed Jan. 13-Feb. 6 in Gallery 234 in the lower level of the University of Wyoming Union. A reception will take place Thursday, Jan. 16, from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery. The photographs were taken in Wyoming last summer as a joint effort between the UW American Studies Program and the Wyoming Arts Council. Gibbons says he was tasked with “gathering images of Wyoming artisans of fishing, hunting, outfitting and other traditions that are synonymous with Western and Wyoming outdoor lifestyles.”
The main “Art of the Hunt” exhibit is currently in production at the Wyoming State Museum and set to open later in 2014. The Wyoming Humanities Council partnered with UW American Studies and the Wyoming Arts Council for “Art of the Hunt: Fishing Traditions,” a panel discussion program.
